Lakeside school shell house – Seattle Rain-Screen Siding
Synapse Construction provided Seattle siding services for the remodel/addition of the Lakeside School shell house. A small portion of the original corrugated metal siding was left on the building and patched and painted to match the new siding. The new Seattle siding installed was Ceraclad siding which is a rain screen system. We worked closely with the designer and general contractor in creating the right exterior texture for the building. As you can see for a fairly plane building the changes in color and texture add architectural interest to this otherwise rectangular box.
Seattle Siding – mixing it up!
Typically for Ceraclad projects color matched caulk is used at the joints to make them essentially disappear. For this project we wanted to create a grid pattern. The builder chose 2 complimentary metal colors for the flashings to be used with the 2 different colored Ceraclad colors being used on the project. Seattle Rain-screen sidng then matched the caulk to the flashing colors which made all the caulk joints stand out and create the grid pattern you see in the pictures. It takes a little more care to use a caulk as an accent then it does to use matching caulk but we think the results speak for themselves.
