Give A Little Love To These Construction-related Charities This Holiday Season
Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, or anything else, the holidays are a time to come together, under one roof, with your family. They’re a time to enjoy good food and great company-but not everyone has a home in which to do that. In the spirit of giving, consider sharing some of your time and money with these charities, so everyone can have a warm place to spend this holiday season.
Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity is a national charity whose goal is to create “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Through donations and volunteers, they work to build houses and communities for people in need including those in poverty, veterans, and low-income communities. Additionally, they’ve adopted policies to build the most energy efficient and green housing. They promote the use of sustainable materials, great indoor air quality, and water conservation. They hold events across the country where you can volunteer your time. They also accept donations on their website.
Building Homes for Heroes: This organization builds and renovates homes, and gifts them to men and women who were injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are a national charity run principally through volunteers and events. You can support this organization and our veterans by making a donation or contacting their leadership team to start an event in your area.
buildOn: buildOn is a charity that aims to give children in developing countries better access to education and improve educational facilities. Through their programs across the U.S., they work to raise funds to build schools some of the poorest countries in the world. They’ve contributed to the education of thousands of children and built nearly 800 schools in Haiti, Mali, Nicaragua, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Malawi and Nepal. Their goal is to empower young kids in these areas by giving them a place to learn. They accept donations online and host events around the U.S.
